I’m managing a 7-person crew on a six-week TI and we’re losing critical-path minutes swapping between M18, 40V XGT, and 12V chargers across three stations. If you’ve consolidated to one platform for framing and finish (nailers, trim routers, 23ga pinners), did it meaningfully reduce handoff delays, and how did you support the oddball tools without dragging the schedule?
Swapping platforms drives me nuts too. We standardized on M18 for nailers/trim router and parked a rolling charge cart (dual rapid + six packs) at the cut station — cut handoff about 10 min/day vs your “three stations”. For the oddballs (XGT pinner, 12V drivers), we keep a labeled go-bag with two charged packs each and a compact charger that only comes out at lunch so it doesn’t clog the queue; adapters worked but ran hot, so I’d skip them — want the cart layout?
We’ve had success standardizing on the M18 too; it’s really freed up time. For those oddball tools, I keep a set of dedicated batteries ready that we cycle through during the day, which helps keep things moving. Have you looked into a charging station setup like @grace_benn92 suggested?
It’s a real juggling act with all the battery platforms! One thing we’ve done is dedicate a couple of crew members to manage battery swaps during peak times, keeping the flow going. Gives you a breather like taking a pit stop in a race.
