Been leaning on the Simpson app and AWC span calc, but cell service dies on half my sites. Anyone have a solid pocket guide or laminated cheat sheet for 2021 IRC nailing schedules, header/joist spans, and shear-wall patterns in a 115 mph wind zone — something I can toss in the gang box next to the speed square?
Code Check Building laminated card in my gang box; 2021 IRC nailing, headers, and bracing… https://www.codecheck.com + APA E30.
I toss the ICC 2021 IRC Quick-Card from Builder’s Book in the gang box — laminated, it covers prescriptive nailing, common header/joist spans, and a bracing summary when there’s no cell. For 115 mph, I add a one-page APA SDPWS shear-wall nailing chart I printed and laminated; Simpson’s high-wind table backs it up with inspectors. Link if you need it: https://www.buildersbook.com/2021-irc-quick-card/.
Off the apps, the spiral APA Engineered Wood Construction Guide lives in my toolbox — fastener schedules, shear-wall nail patterns, and quick tables; solid enough for a “115 mph” site. I pair it with AWC’s Span Tables for joists/rafters and laminated a one‑pager of R602.3 and R602.7 highlights for nails and headers; want the PDF? @marieC200’s card is fine, but the APA shear tables read clearer when you’re knee‑deep in mud.
