Battery platform consolidation to keep crews on time

We run three crews across two sites and lost 40 minutes yesterday hunting a compatible battery for a track saw. If you’ve standardized on a single 18/20V line for saws and nailers, did it tighten handoffs and reduce downtime, or do specialty tools force exceptions that erode the scheduling gains?

After we ‘lost 40 minutes’ to a track saw, we fixed it by pairing every track saw with two dedicated 8Ah packs and a 6‑port rapid charger in a Packout that lives on the same cart. The rule is the saw doesn’t leave without its box, and a lead tops off at lunch using a small inverter in the van (or a power station) so there’s always a charged buffer. Standardizing helps, but the no‑orphan tool rule killed the downtime for us, even with a few specialty outliers that stay married to their own batteries.
